The Northern Infrastructure Forum and the Auckland Business Chamber have officially launched their Energy Action Plan, a strategic initiative aimed at addressing New Zealand’s energy challenges and ensuring reliable, business-friendly energy policies.
The plan was developed in response to last year’s energy crisis, which led to business closures, financial hardship for consumers, and signs of de-industrialization. Recognizing the urgent need for action, industry leaders came together to share insights and develop practical solutions.
This wasn’t just about pointing out the problems but creating a plan that is realistic, actionable, and designed for quick implementation. “Energy should be a critical enabler of business and growth in New Zealand, not a handbrake. If we have anything to do with it, it can and will be again”, said Simon Bridges CEO of the Auckland Business Chamber and former Minister of Energy and Resources.
A key focus of the initiative is ensuring government accountability in implementing policies that support a stable and sustainable energy supply. The Auckland Business Chamber and the Northern Infrastructure Forum have pledged to advocate for meaningful action and work with policymakers to drive change.
The launch of the Energy Action Plan marks a significant step towards securing New Zealand’s energy future, with industry leaders pushing for swift and effective implementation.
